About Via Maria
Via Maria Catholic Pilgrimages creates transformative journeys through Latin America, beginning in Colombia. We believe pilgrimage is more than travel, it is an invitation to encounter Christ, deepen your faith, and experience the beauty of the Catholic Church through the people, cultures, and places that make each destination unique.
Our pilgrimages bring together faith, culture, adventure, and community. Each journey is thoughtfully designed to create meaningful opportunities for prayer and worship while inviting pilgrims to discover local traditions, explore beautiful landscapes, learn from the communities they visit, and build lasting friendships along the way.
At Via Maria, we believe some of the most powerful encounters with God happen when we step outside what is familiar. Through authentic experiences rooted in faith and culture, we hope to inspire pilgrims to return home with a renewed relationship with Christ, a deeper appreciation for the universal Church, and memories that remain with them for years to come.

WHY VIA MARIA?
Faith at the Heart
We believe travel can be more than seeing new places. Each journey is designed to create space for prayer, reflection, and a deeper encounter with Christ.
More Than a Pilgrimage
Experience Catholic faith alongside Colombia’s culture, history, food, landscapes, and people. Our journeys bring together faith, adventure, and meaningful experiences.
A Personal Experience
We keep our groups intentional and personal, creating opportunities to meet others, share the journey, and build genuine community along the way.
Colombia, Through Our Eyes
As a Colombian American couple, we bring together two cultures and a personal love for Colombia. We want you to experience the country not just as a tourist, but as a welcomed guest.

Our Story
■
Two people. Two countries. One shared faith.
Hi, we’re Joe & Bella.
We’re an American Colombian couple brought together by our Catholic faith, a love for Colombia, and a long distance relationship between two countries and cultures.
Over time, we discovered how special it can be to bring people from different backgrounds together through faith, travel, and shared experiences.
That experience inspired us to create Via Maria.
We wanted to create the kind of trip we would want to take ourselves: one where you can discover a beautiful new country, experience its culture, meet people who share your faith, have fun, and grow spiritually along the way.
So, we invite you to join us. Come as a traveler, leave as a pilgrim.
Common Questions
-
Via Maria is more than a traditional pilgrimage. Faith is at the heart of every journey, but we also make room for culture, adventure, local experiences, and time to enjoy Colombia.
-
Each pilgrimage is different, but packages include accommodations, transportation during the trip, selected meals, activities, and guided experiences. Your specific itinerary will clearly outline what is included.
-
Our pilgrimages include a mix of walking, sightseeing, and some outdoor activities. A moderate level of fitness is recommended, but you don't need to be an experienced hiker or athlete. Each itinerary will include details about the physical demands of the trip.
-
Pack comfortable clothes and walking shoes, weather-appropriate layers, a reusable water bottle, and anything you personally need for prayer and daily activities. We'll provide a detailed packing list before your pilgrimage.
-
We keep our groups intentionally small, typically welcoming 10–15 travelers per pilgrimage. This allows us to create a more personal experience, build genuine community, and make each journey feel meaningful and connected.
-
We carefully plan our itineraries, transportation, accommodations, and activities with our guests' comfort and safety in mind. You'll also have our team with you throughout the pilgrimage.
